GREEN BUILDING STRATEGIES
The design of the Central Montana Sports Complex will have many design features to preserve the environment and promote good health in users of the facility.
The building will maintain superior air quality through the use of an air-diffusing system that responds to temperature, humidity and carbon dioxide levels. Low and no-VOC (volatile organic compound) paints, non-solvent based adhesives and low-emitting carpeting will also contribute to high indoor air quality in the building.
A ground-source heat pump system will be explored as an alternative energy source. Also, solar and wind energy will be utilized if affordable. To reduce energy costs and promote health of the users, natural light will be used as much as possible in the facility. This will be accomplished through the use of high windows with shading devices and skylights /light tubes.
